Natalia Juristo

Dictará la conferencia Gaining Evidences in Software Engineering: Guidelines for Experimental Works Cooperation

Biografía: Dr. Natalia Juristo is full professor of software engineering with the Computing School at the Technical University of Madrid (UPM) in Spain. She has been the Director of the UPM MSc in Software Engineering for 10 years. She was fellow of the European Centre for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Switzerland in 1988, and staff of the European Space Agency (ESA) in Italy. During 1992 she was resident affiliate of the Software Engineering Institute at CMU (Pittsburgh, USA).

She was program chair for SEKE97 and general chair for SEKE01 and SNPD02. Prof. Juristo has been key speaker for CSEET03. She has been guest editor of special issues in several journals, including the Journal of Software and Systems, Data and Knowledge Engineering and the International Journal of Software Engineering and Knowledge Engineering. Dr. Juristo has been member of several editorial boards, including IEEE Software and the Journal of Empirial Software Engineering. She is senior member of IEEE CS. Dr. Juristo has a B.S. and a Ph.D. in Computing from UPM.

 


Guilherme Horta Travassos

Biografía: Prof. Guilherme Horta Travassos (Eletrical Engineer (85), MSc(90) and DSc(94) in Software Engineering - COPPE/UFRJ, Post-Doctoral in Experimental Software Engineering - UMD/USA(98-00)) is an associate professor at COPPE - Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. His research
interests include Experimental Software Engineering, Software Engineering environments, Software Quality (Inspection and Testing), Software Maintenance, OO Software development and Software Architecture.

Fernando Naveda

Rochester Institute of Technology, USA

Dictará la conferencia Undergraduate Software Engineering: What's Happening?

Biografía: J. Fernando Naveda is the chair of the department of Software Engineering at the Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester NY. In 1979 he earned a bachelor's degree in Computing Systems Engineering from "Instituto Teconólogico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey," Monterrey, NL México. In 1986 he earned a doctoral degree in Computer and Information Science from the department of Computer Science at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. From 1986 through 1987 he was a faculty member with the department of Computer Science at the University of Kansas, Lawrence. Later in 1987 he joined the department of Computing Sciences at the university of Scranton, Scranton PA where he developed and directed that university's Masters program in Software Engineering. He was a visiting scientist with the Software Engineering Institute in 1990. Between 1991 and 1993 he was a visiting scientist with the department of Computer Science at the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California where he worked in the Computer Aided Prototyping System. Dr. Naveda joined RIT's department of Computer Science in 1993 where he was directly involved in the development of the baccalaureate degree in Software Engineering, the first program of its kind in The United States. Dr. Naveda has played a leading role in the IEEE Computer Society's effort to implement the Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) exam. He has also helped with the implementation of the CSDP on-line course and is co-editor of the IEEE Computer Society's Software Engineering Problem Book, due for release in the Winter of 2005.

Dr. Naveda's most recent research interests include document abstraction and representation, work he's conducted with a group of scientists from XEROX Corporation and RIT. Other interests include software engineering education, software architectures, software design, and software process.
